Nutella Twists

Oh my gosh!

So… I had some puff pastry (store bought, cause I ain’t got time for that with 3 kids under 5 in the house) that needed using up. I was looking through my pantry and saw the Nutella and immediately thought of making these. These are the bomb! Super easy and quick to make. Plus they are a fantastic snack to have in the house, although they are addictive and may only last a few minutes with the kiddos around. These are also great if you have people coming over and want to have a tasty treat for you guests. So without further adieu…

Here’s what you’ll need…

Equipment:

  • Baking sheet

  • Silicone pan liner or oven safe parchment paper

  • Spatula

  • Knife

  • Spoon

  • Rolling pin

Ingredients:

  • Puff pastry sheet

  • Flour, to stop your pastry dough sticking to your countertop

  • Nutella

  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

  • 1 egg, beaten

How it’s done:

  1. Preheat oven to 425 ºF. Line your baking sheet with a silicone pan liner or oven safe parchment paper.

  2. Dust countertop with flour, lay out your puff pastry, and roll it out to make a large rectangle.

  3. Scoop out a generous amount of Nutella onto the bottom half of your puff pastry sheet and spread it out evenly using a spatula (you could warm the Nutella slightly in the microwave to help it spread easier).

  4. Fold the top half of the puff pastry down onto the bottom half and press down gently to stick the two layers together.

  5. Cut vertically into 1 inch size strips, twist each strip a couple times, and place onto prepared baking tray, spaced around 2 inches apart from each other.

  6. Brush with beaten egg.

  7. Bake in oven until golden brown.

  8. Remove from oven and cool on wire rack.

  9. Once completely cooled, dust with powdered sugar, and enjoy!

These should be consumed right away as puff pastry becomes soft if stored overnight.
