Black Magic Smoothie

IMG_0729.jpeg

I’m not really a morning person…

… and usually I don’t feel very hungry first thing in the day. But I have found that I do love having smoothies in the morning, as I find they don’t sit so heavy on my stomach like, say, eggs and toast might.

I’ve been experimenting with different combinations of flavors, and this one is a favorite of mine as it combines chocolate and cherries - a match made in heaven!

My smoothies usually end up being pretty thick; that’s just how I like them.

So here’s what you’ll need…

Equipment:

  • High speed blender (such as a Ninja, NutriBullet or Vitamix)

  • Large mug, cup, or glass to serve

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 C cherries, frozen

  • 1 banana

  • 1/2 avocado

  • 1/4 C oats

  • 1-2 Tbps honey

  • 1 Tbsp 100% cocoa powder (I use Hershey’s brand specialty dark cocoa)

  • 1/4 C cashews

  • Roughly 2/3 - 1 C almond milk

 How to make it…

  1.  Add all ingredients to blender and blend until smooth.

This makes about 16oz or 4-6 C of smoothie. As I mentioned before, I like my smoothies thick, so this would be a perfect base to build a smoothie bowl from using all you favorite toppings.

Serve and enjoy!
